RICHARD N. DOYLE

January 26, 1941 - September 10, 2001

"Death Ends a Life, Not a Relationship.”

Richard N. Doyle was born on January 26, 1941, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was the son of Dr. Fredrick M. and Wilma G. Doyle. He attended the Western Michigan University Laboratory School from kindergarten through high school. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in June, 1963, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, having also studied in Washington, D.C., and at the University of Bonn.

Diane White and Dick were married at the Kalamazoo College Chapel on August 31, 1963, and moved to Chicago, where he entered the University of Chicago Law School. In June, 1966, he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree. The Doyles then moved to Greeley, where Dick studied for the Colorado Bar Examination. He was sworn in as a new attorney on October 4, 1966, and began his private practice.

Dick was a career-long member of the Weld County Bar Association (Secretary. Treasurer, Vice· President, President, and Founder and Chairman of the Tax and Estate Planning Section), and Colorado Bar Association (Board of Governors). Dick's commitment to his profession was also demonstrated by his membership in the Northern Colorado Estate Planning Council (Director, Vice President, President); the Colorado Bar Foundation; and Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. (Director, Treasurer, Vice-President, President).

He supported our community through memberships in Jaycees and the Greeley Housing Authority, and as counsel to the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County. Dick was a volunteer donor at the NCMC Blood Bank. Many of Greeley's young people knew him as "Guest Reader," when he made weekly appearances in Monfort Elementary School classes.

Dick's passions included hiking and backpacking, his home and yard, reading and

learning. He will be remembered for his work ethic, intelligence, integrity, and his creativity, courage and sense of humor. Dick considered being a good father his greatest accomplishment.

In remembrance and celebration of the life of Richard N. Doyle, the board of directors of Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. has established the CLE Award of Excellence in the name of Richard N. Doyle, to be awarded annually to persons whom have demonstrated a commitment to CLE and the legal profession.
