Young Lawyer CLE + Social
A chance for law students, CBA-YLD members, DBA-YLD members, and local attorneys to meet and network. The event starts with a one-hour presentation discussing the legal challenges facing farm workers, presented by Jenifer Rodriguez, Esq., Managing Attorney for the Migrant Farm Worker Division of Colorado Legal Services.
Afterwards, food and drinks will be provided and law students and attorneys are encouraged to socialize and make connections!

MEET YOUR PRESENTER
Jenifer Rodriguez, Esq., is the Managing Attorney of the Migrant Farm Worker Division (MFWD) of Colorado Legal Services. Prior to becoming the Managing Attorney in 2013, Jenifer was a Staff Attorney in the MFWD since 2007. The MFWD provides comprehensive legal services to agricultural workers throughout Colorado, including survivors of labor trafficking. In addition to assisting agricultural workers who are survivors of trafficking or other types of criminal workplace abuses on applications for immigration relief, the MFWD also litigates wage and hour, discrimination, trafficking, and other employment claims in civil lawsuits and administrative agency proceedings. Prior to joining the MFWD at Colorado Legal Services, Jenifer held staff attorney positions in the housing and homelessness prevention units at Colorado Legal Services and Greater Boston Legal Services. Jenifer graduated Northeastern University School of Law in 1997.

This presentation will provide an overview of the work of the Migrant Farm Worker Division of Colorado Legal Services, including efforts to confront wage theft and labor trafficking. You will learn about farm worker rights under state and federal law, and about the legal and economic challenges facing agricultural workers in Colorado.
