Description & Bullets:

Family feuds can become particularly bitter and long-lived when family money or a family business is involved, and the controlling influence of a senior generation is not present.  In the context of a trust, if these disputes are not effectively contained they can easily give rise to pitched battles among beneficiaries and eventually between beneficiaries and trustees.  Substantial litigation, potentially financially ruinous, is often not far behind.  This program will provide you with real-world guide to identifying sources of family feuds in trusts before they grow into dispute and litigation and discuss effective planning and administration techniques for containing and resolving disputes once they begin.

- Sources of family feuds in trusts – and planning and administration techniques to resolve them before litigation
- Blended family, inter-generational, and sibling disputes
- Choosing the right trustee to limit disputes – family member, institutional, professional?
- Disclosure and communication issues
- Special issues when family businesses are involved
