Program Description:

The federal Equal Pay Act and the more recently enacted Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act create a regime where employees can challenge a range of employer practices that impact compensation, directly or indirectly.  These practices include decisions about base pay, job classification, the company’s career ladder, promotion and tenure denials, and more.  There is also a growing number of state laws that address fair and equal pay. Litigation in this area is growing rapidly, challenging a wider range of employer practices. This program will provide you with a guide to the law and regulation in this area, points of potential employer liability and counseling clients to avoid that liability.
