Program Description

An action to quiet title is brought to establish a party's title to real property, thereby “quieting” any challenges to the title.  When the cloud on the title is removed, the plaintiff is free of claims against the property.

Experienced experts will walk you through the quiet title process.  You will learn the mechanics of the quiet title lawsuit, and about the more advanced issues when handling a quiet title case.  From service of process and identification of the parties, to the most successful strategies in defending a quiet title action, you will get what you need to best serve your clients.

One of the positive aspects of a well-publicized Boulder lawsuit concerning adverse possession is that the media coverage of the lawsuit has raised awareness of the need for legal skill in quiet title actions.  This is because a claim of adverse possession generally requires a quiet title action to resolve the dispute.  Our faculty will devote extensive time covering adverse possession issues, including a thorough discussion of Colorado's 2008 adverse possession legislation.

Our faculty is led by Geoffrey P. Anderson, Esq.  Mr. Anderson is the current Chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Real Estate Law Section Executive Council,  and is a veteran real estate attorney with over 25 years of experience.  Mr. Anderson is a noted expert on quiet title actions and the author of a recently published, comprehensive book on quiet title actions in Colorado.
