How to Work with High Demand/High Conflict Clients:  A Crash Course into the World of Character Pathology

Co-sponsored by the CBA Trust & Estate Section

Program Description:

Lawyers often work with individuals and with couples in markedly stressful situations and on any given day are managing the mental health issues that arise with their clientele. While some clients manage their stress well, others collapse into states of disarray ranging from rage to extreme anxiety and despair. These individuals are unsettling to work with and often times leave attorneys feeling exhausted, confused, blamed and anxious themselves.

Beth Doyle gives a brief overview into the world of character disorders, and presents ideas on how to manage the complexities of these clients and the challenging dance between empathy, enabling and boundary setting. And in this mix, she helps with ideas on how to juggle it all and still provide solid legal advice!
