Natural Resource Basics for Trust and Estate Lawyers - Webinar
Trust and estate lawyers regularly encounter assets that extend beyond the financial accounts and securities they typically administer. Interests tied to land and natural resources can raise unfamiliar valuation, titling, and transfer questions that affect both planning and administration.
This spring program, supported jointly by the Trust and Estate Section, the Natural Resources and Energy Section, and Water Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, provides trust and estate practitioners with a practical overview of natural resources and real estate interests that may arise in planning and administration. Faculty will discuss how these assets are commonly encountered, titled, and transferred while highlighting considerations that may warrant further review or involvement of subject matter counsel.
A networking lunch is included for in-person attendees, offering an opportunity to connect with trust and estate, natural resources, and water law attorneys and related professionals, and to get to know members of these sections.
Attendees will:
• Develop foundational issue spotting skills related to natural resource interests, including water rights, oil and gas holdings, and hard mineral estates, and understand how these assets may affect planning and administration.
• Gain familiarity with real estate conveyancing concepts, including common deed types and succession considerations when fiduciaries in title change.
• Recognize practical administration concerns that may arise in probate and trust matters, including valuation questions, ancillary proceedings, documentation needs, and coordination with outside professionals.
IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE HAS ITS PERKS

To encourage community building through in-person attendance, CBA-CLE will be holding a drawing at every live program held in the CLE Classroom, available only to in-person attendees. The winner will receive a CLE Elite Pass for 1 year (a value of $1295 for members/$1695 for non-members) simply by attending live.
