Planning for the future needs of people with disabilities can be complex and unique, but also critical for the individuals who benefit. This program will provide an overview of Social Security and Medicaid benefits, discuss who may need a special needs trust, who should be part of the trust team, and some of the dos and don'ts of special needs trust planning and administration.

Ethics: Representing Clients with Diminished Capacity
This presentation will discuss the ethical obligations of attorneys representing clients who are entirely unable, or limited in their ability, to effectively receive and evaluate information, communicate with their counsel, or otherwise participate in litigation in any meaningful way.  The presentation will focus on the Rules of Professional Conduct, reasonable evaluation of a client’s condition, and options afforded by statute to ensure a client’s interests are properly protected.
