This session will provide an overview of the administration process for both probate and trust estates, emphasizing: formal and informal opening of the estate; distinguishing between probate and nonprobate assets; notice; the inventory; and use of checklists. Relevant JDF forms will be reviewed.

This nuts and bolts session will discuss: interviewing the client and the decedent's family to obtain the information to open and process an estate; the roles of the client, attorney and paralegal; resources available to the grieving family; and identifying family conflict.
