Law + Ethics = Lawthics

June 2017

NEW! Quarterly Mental Health Lunch Series!

Law + Ethics = Lawthics

The Interaction Between the Law and Medicine

Program Description

The interaction between the law and medicine has been fraught with difficulty. There have been efforts to create a special inter-professional code to resolve them, but with mixed results.

Lawthics reflects on the ethical underpinnings of our laws and our chosen profession to help us better support the practice of medicine. If we see what lies behind our own professional identity, behind medical practice laws, and behind the thinking of judges, we will be better equipped to see the nuances and the common purpose in the interactions between practitioners of law and medicine.
