About the Presenter
James McElhaney
Jim McElhaney is the foremost teacher, writer and speaker on Trial Techniques in North America. He is the Joseph C. Hutcheson Distinguished Lecturer in Trial Advocacy at the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas and the Baker & Hostetler Distinguished Scholar in Trial Practice a Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim has given over 800 seminars, presentations and workshops on Evidence, Procedure and Trial Practice in every one of the United States and throughout Canada.
Jim is one of the most widely read authors on trial techniques in the United States. He speaks to more than 450,000 lawyers and judges about Evidence, Procedure and winning Trial Techniques in his column, “Litigation” - the most popular feature in the American Bar Association Journal. He is the author of three highly acclaimed books: Effective Litigation (West Pub. Co. law school course book), McElhaney's Trial Notebook (ABA 4th ed., 2005) - the ABA's all-time bestseller, and McElhaney's Litigation (ABA, 1995).
Jim is a former prosecutor in the US Army JAGC and trial lawyer in a litigation firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has an active practice as a trial strategy consultant in civil and criminal trials. He is a graduate of Duke University School of Law, a private pilot, amateur musician and photographer, and enjoys living in the mountains in New Mexico.
