Federal Practice Update 2008
Co-sponsored by the Federal Bar Association and the Faculty of Federal Advocates

Program Description

Whether you are a seasoned federal court practitioner or you are about to step into the federal arena for the first time, this intensive, full-day program has been designed to arm you with the latest wisdom and insight that our distinguished faculty of judges, magistrate judges and experienced federal attorneys will share, so that you will emerge prepared to represent your clients to the best of your ability. Our day begins with a first-hand presentation describing just what is expected from you when you are trying to settle your case with a magistrate judge. Following this is an overview of the recent changes to the local rules of practice for the District Court. Next, you learn successful strategies for dealing with clients in tough ethical situations, followed by a presentation on the key federal court evidentiary issues that you must handle. After lunch, our afternoon includes two special segments to enhance your practice. First, you will learn which court has jurisdiction when your federal case involves bankruptcy matters. Finally, our distinguished panel of judges will teach you everything you need to know about successfully handling your cases in their courtrooms, including useful practice pointers that you can take back to the office.
