Program Description:
 
The faculty will discuss:
* the background of the case,
* highlights of the arguments
* 200 years of patent invalidity standards reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court, including the evolution and current definition of several legal terms: burden of proof, standard of proof, burden of persuasion, substantially more likely than not, preponderance of the evidence, clear and convincing, and beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jahn & Associates, a boutique firm specializing in intellectual property law, was founded by Kirstin Jahn, Esq. in 1997 and has offices in Boulder, CO and Reno, NV. The firm handles litigation and licensing or patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret misappropriation in federal court. Ms. Jahn graduated from the University of Buffalo, School of Law in 1991 and practiced general litigation in New York for five years prior to starting her own firm and limiting her practice to intellectual property law. She is licensed in New York, Colorado, and Nevada, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth, Tenth, and Federal Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Ms. Jahn was lead counsel for AmiCOUR IP Group as Amicus Curie in support of i4i Limited Partnership in the U.S Supreme Court case Microsoft v. i4i Limited Partnership et al.

Bechtel is the Vice-Chair and Chair Elect of the High Technology Sector of the Licensing Executives Society, sits on the ethics committee of Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc., and Chairs the Board of Directors of Wind Charmer Energy, Inc.
