ICE Enforcement Authority and Accountability: Litigation Strategies Under the FTCA - Webinar

Amidst a renewed wave of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) activity across the country, this presentation will discuss ICE’s legal authority during enforcement operations and protests. The session will cover the scope of ICE’s authority to conduct law enforcement activities, the limits of administrative immigration warrants, and recent case law developments.

 

Additionally, this presentation will also focus on the Federal Tort Claims Act (“FTCA”) as an avenue for seeking damages against the United States for ICE officers’ misconduct during protests and enforcement operations. Attendees will learn the basics of litigating FTCA claims, including: the administrative exhaustion process; the types of claims that can be asserted for ICE officers’ misconduct; the damages framework under the FTCA; and strategic considerations involved in litigating FTCA claims.

 

CLE CREDITS: This program has been submitted for 1 General CLE Credit.
