Program Description:

Issues of mental health are difficult to discuss, and yet they affect you and your practice, regardless of what your area of expertise is.

This program provides answers to the difficult questions, so you're able to discuss the options when mental health issues become part of your case.

Included is a mock direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses in a hearing on whether medication should be administered involuntarily.

The role play is followed by a presentation on the possible changes to Title 27, and advice from the bench on what to do … and what not to do … when representing a client in mental health certification and medication hearings.

Find out why electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may still be a viable option in 2013.

Hear the issues surrounding emergency medication, and learn about involuntary commitments for alcohol and drug issues, and how they intertwine with mental health disorders.
