Selling Your Law Practice: Is It for You?

A business-focused series for client-focused lawyers

Program Description

As a solo or small firm lawyer with a book of business that took a career to build, your retirement isn't as simple as a gold watch farewell.

Is it possible to wind down your practice, leave your clients in good hands, and maybe even find some financial benefit from the firm you built?

Yes, but you have to start planning now.

This one-hour program will survey the key considerations that arise when considering a sale, including:
- Why would someone purchase or sell a practice?
- How does a buyer find a seller?
- How does a seller find a buyer?
- What issues affect the ability to sell and the sale price?
- How is the sale price determined?
- What should you expect at the closing?
- What ethical rules are implicated?
