Featuring a Judges' Panel on Evidentiary Issues Unique to Family Law Litigation, Including Child Hearsay!
Program Description
At this year's Fall Update, don't miss a fascinating discussion of the Hague Convention and international child abduction, or Court of Appeals Judge Roy's talk about the most recent family law cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. A Judges' panel will also give you their expertise on evidentiary issues unique to family law cases, including the ever-challenging child hearsay question.
In addition to these timely issues, much of this year's Update will address the New CFI Guidelines. The amended directive primarily refocuses the CFI investigation on being a cost-effective tool to obtain more information about a family law case. Among other changes, the Directive imposes a presumptive $2,000 cap on the investigation and report. The new order also eliminates CFI immunity from suit. The combination of these two major changes is causing controversy and is having a significant effect on CFI appointments.
Contribute to these discussions, which include psychological, legal, policy, and judicial perspectives!

Working with Changes to the CFI Role: Problem Solving Options (Part One)
Panelists will discuss changes to the CFI role, and the various other options and roles, both statutory and practical, that can assist parties, counsel and the Court in developing solutions for families in moderate to high-conflict APR cases. Panelists will introduce the various options and roles, and will discuss what kind of professionals can engage in them, whether they require agreement of the parties or court action (or both), and what kinds of solutions these options and roles offer families. The panel will also address issues of cost and availability of various types of providers, and what “low income” options might be available, if any.
