The 2026 Colorado legislative session adjourned in May and there are several important measures that will affect family law practitioners moving forward. Hear from CBA Family Law Section legislative co-chairs, Chelsea Augelli and Kaela Zihlman, as they review key family law legislation from the 2026 session, including:

•    HB 26-1309- Abuse in Cases of Separation (passed)
•    SB26-018- Legal Protections for Dignity of Minors (passed) 
•    HB26-1218- Clarifying Validity of Common Law Marriage (passed)
•    HB 26-1131- Concerning the Custody of Pet Animals (introduced, but not passed)
•    SB26-027- Parental Equality and Child Empowerment Act (introduced, but not passed)

Attendees will learn about the legislation's progress through the General Assembly and the practical implications for Colorado family law practitioners.
