Relocation and Forensic Mental Health Evaluation in Colorado: Issues Involving Very Young Children
Program Description:
Relocation involving the very young child presents a conundrum for the evaluator and the court. It is a situation of high risk of high harm to the parent-child relationship, yet the presumption under Spahmer is that there will be a long-distance relationship. This leaves the CFI/evaluator with an ethical quandary. Dr. Austin addresses the forensic approach to relocation evaluation and the ambiguity in Colorado relocation law, providing strategies for CFIs who are grappling with this thorny and heart-wrenching issue. The course materials for this program include the 2010 updated chapter authored by Dr. Austin entitled “The CFI's Evaluation for the Relocation Case” from the CBA-CLE book The Role of the CFI and CLR in Colorado.
