An Afternoon of Contempt or “Take Two Motions For Contempt And Call Me In The Morning”
District Court Judges Rice and Russell have shared responsibilities for the Arapahoe County Domestic Trial Judge Assignments for some years. They routinely docket at least 30 initial contempt advisements each month, and thereafter any trials which are set in those Order to Show Cause actions. Fairly regularly, they have declared after a particularly challenging hearing, that a training for attorneys and judicial officers could be quite helpful to the overall process of case management on contempt proceedings. An initial training on contempt proceedings was held November 2, 2007. That training was so well received that they agreed to present the training again at the FLI Conference. This will be a time when they will focus training materials, formal presentation, exercises and Q&A with participants, how to plead, prove and defend contempt proceedings. A thoughtful exchange of ideas will be welcomed. Mental Health Professionals are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate.
Presented by Honorable Robert H. Russell and Honorable Juanita Rice, Arapahoe County
