Program Description

The CBA Family Law Section continues its proud tradition of treating Colorado family law attorneys to a Spring Update program filled with timely, practical presentations on the most important issues in family law!

This year's program begins with the always appreciated case law update.  After the update, you will enjoy a discussion of medical marijuana and how it affects parental responsibility rights and obligations in Colorado.

How about family law litigation and the economic downturn?  How are courts, attorneys, and clients adapting to the new economic realities?  What are attorneys and courts doing to keep costs down for cash-strapped clients while still providing clients with a just and efficient resolution of the issues that confront them?  Find out in the third segment of the program!

The fourth topic of the day is expert advice on how to help unmarried clients who need to get “divorced.”  More and more, Colorado attorneys are approached by clients who need help disentangling their finances and arranging parental responsibility - and these clients are neither formally nor common-law married.

The program concludes with two meaty, helpful topics including ethics instruction designed for family law attorneys as well as members of the judiciary discussing what the bench expects from attorneys in light of the plunge in the economy.

Attorneys come back year after year for the Family Law Section's annual Spring Update because they get a practical, useful CLE experience, not just CLE credits….
