Program Description:
 
The program will discuss the trend of the opposing party suing the lawyer when the transaction doesn't work out, the opposing party believes you are his attorney, or an adverse ruling occurs in the litigation against your client and the opposing party wants you to be responsible. Ms. Cohen will discuss the types of claims that are typically filed and the recent Colorado Supreme Court case of Allen v. Steele.

Nancy Cohen is Of Counsel with the Denver-based law firm of Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell LLP. In her civil litigation practice, Nancy handles complex commercial, employment, product liability, and professional liability lawsuits. She represents law firms and lawyers in regulatory, grievance, and legal malpractice matters. Before joining WTO in 2010, Nancy was the Chief Deputy Regulation Counsel with the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation, where she investigated and prosecuted lawyers for violations of ethical rules, implemented a nationally recognized attorney-regulation system, and gave hundreds of presentations to lawyers and other groups on ethics and legal malpractice issues.
