Criminal Law: Legislative and Pandemic-Related Updates - In-Person

Join the CBA Criminal Law Section for an afternoon of updates covering the history, passage, and implementation of the 2021 Misdemeanor Reform Bill (SB21-271), other legislative updates from the 2021 and 2022 sessions, and a judicial panel discussing the ongoing impacts on COVID-19 on criminal dockets, trials, and courts.

Home studies will be available approximately 2-3 weeks following the live program.

For your own safety, the safety of others, and in an effort to provide everyone with the most rewarding in-person meeting and event experiences possible, we request that you attend this event only if you have been fully vaccinated. All attendees must wear masks for indoor events unless attendees can maintain a distance of six feet from each other, in which case masks may be removed. Masks may also be removed by an attendee, briefly, when they are speaking, eating, or drinking.

Depending on CDC and/or state or local health guidelines, a rise in COVID-19 cases, or other circumstances that may threaten the well-being of our attendees, CBA-CLE reserves the right to convert to a fully virtual event.

If disability accommodations or special assistance are needed, please contact us at [email protected]. Requests must be made at least two weeks prior to the scheduled program.

The program will be submitted for CLE accreditation in Colorado. If you need to seek accreditation in another state, please review the process and requirements for that individual state. CBA-CLE staff can provide a Uniform Certificate of Attendance, and it is the attendee’s responsibility to complete the accreditation outside of Colorado.

2021 & 2022 Legislative Updates
The 2022 legislative session was very active, although very different from other years. The legal community has a voice in the process through the Colorado Bar Association’s Legislative Policy Committee and through the daily work of the CBA’s Director of Legislative Relations, Tyler Mounsey.
Tyler will walk participants through the nature of the most recent session, the bills that have been introduced, bills that have moved forward and those that have not, and will speak in-depth on those that impact the legal profession. Tyler is in continuous contact with legislative liaisons from all CBA sections and will speak to their considerations on bills, their learnings from the process, and how the legal community can continue to participate in these decisions that impact the entire state.
Tyler’s presentation materials will be links to important legislation and policy that all attorneys in Colorado should be aware of.
