This program will be a practical tutorial on several business and legal aspects of self-publishing books and other literary content, including business planning; choice of entity; copyright and fair use; plagiarism; invasion of privacy; and briefly third party permissions and clearances.

About the Faculty:
 
Jon Tandler is a Shareholder of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona, and practices corporate, intellectual property and publishing law. Mr. Tandler provides corporate governance and transactional services to business enterprises in many industries. Mr. Tandler also practices intellectual property law, emphasizing copyright, and provides rights analysis and counseling for IP owners and claimants; negotiates and documents information technology and intellectual property licenses; and represents clients on dispute resolution matters. Mr. Tandler works extensively in the publishing industry, representing publishers, distributors, agencies, trade associations, authors, and others as to content acquisition, contracts, licenses, and other legal matters.
