Program Description

Workers' compensation attorneys are in for a treat!  The CBA Workers' Compensation Section is hosting its annual Spring Workers' Compensation Update on this date and the speakers and topics, as always, are relevant, timely, and practical!

The day begins with the always helpful review of the most important case law decisions over the past year, including Colorado Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and ICAP decisions.  The day continues with a primer on evidence-based medicine and how that concept is implemented in the Division's Medical Treatment Guidelines.  The morning concludes with a presentation by ICAP Administrative Law Judge Curt Kriksciun on issue and claim preclusion matters that often trip up workers' compensation attorneys filing appeals.

After lunch you will be treated to the most fun you can have while earning CLE:  Legal ethics taught through the medium of humorous skits and songs!  The next session of the program includes three presentations on how two recent Division rule changes, as well as a recent Colorado Supreme Court decision, are affecting Workers' Compensation cases in the real world.  The final topic of the day is a review of the complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) diagnostic criteria, including the tests themselves and new treatments available.

The faculty includes distinguished workers' compensation law judges, medical doctors, as well as experienced practitioners from both the claimant and respondent's bars, ensuring that you receive a high quality CLE experience!
