Program Description
This is the fifth in a series of courses offered related to water law and administration. This particular course, moderated by Justice Gregory Hobbs, provides an overview of the law concerning compacts and the interstate allocation of water rights, and the role of commissions in enforcing and administering water rights pursuant to compacts. It also includes specific discussions on compact treaty issues pertaining to the Colorado, South Platte, Republican, and Arkansas Rivers and the Rio Grande. If you are an attorney, engineer, expert witness, judge, referee, water clerk, water resources manager or other professional who works in the area of water rights and participates in water court proceedings, this course is for you.
The distinguished faculty is comprised of a Colorado Supreme Court Justice, experienced water attorneys and administrators, including the State Engineer, who have in-depth knowledge of the allocation of water rights through compacts.
