Special Needs Trusts

Program Description:

Special Needs Trusts can be an effective and reliable way to shelter inheritance or gifts from being counted as a resource of the beneficiary for public benefits eligibility. However, there are a few special characteristics of these types of trusts that set them apart from other testamentary or inter-vivos trusts. This lunch discussion highlights those characteristics, provides example language and explains the reasoning behind the differences.
