Program Description:

As more people save for retirement, it is becoming more common for retirement funds to be one of your clients' primary assets. Thus, proper estate planning with retirement assets is an increasingly important area for estate planning attorneys to address. This Update addresses the many types of retirement assets, and explains terminology and key concepts, such as minimum required distributions (MRDs) and Required Beginning Date (RBD). A primary focus of the program is leaving retirement assets to trusts, along with examples of planning options and dilemmas.

The issues associated with retirement account assets are some of the most complicated issues an attorney must address when assisting with estate planning. How much should your clients' beneficiaries withdraw after death? What are some traps to avoid and practical tips in this area? What can I learn about directed IRAs? Get answers to these questions and more!
