Do you lie awake at night with burning questions about the proper allocation of trust receipts and disbursements between income and principal? This session is for you.

Colorado is among 8 states that have now enacted the new Uniform Fiduciary Income and Principal Act (UFIPA). UFIPA was intended to update and modernize accounting rules for trusts. Our three presenters worked on the subcommittee that studied UFIPA prior to recommending its adoption in Colorado.

Topics covered will include:

- Overview of key dates and developments in the history of UFIPA and of its predecessor, the Uniform Principal and Income Act, in Colorado

- General overview of UFIPA’s rules for allocating receipts and disbursements

- Specific topics (with examples!): Unitrust conversions, oil and gas revenues, and more

- Traps for the unwary
