Program Description:

In the November election, Initiative 300 passed, legalizing the use of marijuana in certain clubs, lounges and other businesses. What does this mean for Colorado, and what other marijuana-related legislation was passed in other states in November? Get the answers to these questions in the first discussion of the day from Jim Thornburn on the Colorado and national marijuana legal landscape. Next, the Chief of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division will give you a regulatory update, as well as the latest in production management, market demand, and regulatory compliance.  Ron Seigneur, your Program Chair, will then give you an overview of marijuana business valuation, and what you need to watch out for in terms of banking, employment and tax compliance.

Banking has always been a problem in the marijuana industry, but you will hear from a Colorado bank that has cracked the code. Sundie Seefried, the CEO of Safe Harbor Private Banking, will tell you how she has found a way to serve the marijuana industry. Joel Russman will fill you in on the real estate hurdles you need to overcome, including zoning, buying versus leasing property, MED rules and regulations you need to follow, as well as Denver’s new ordinances with which you need to comply.

Of course there are always taxes! Get the inside track on appeals, adjustments under 280E, interest, penalties, and even 8300 audits.  And finally, many wonder what the future of the marijuana industry holds given the new administration. Listen to US Attorney Bob Troyer describe the Federal Enforcement Landscape in the early days of the Trump presidency.

This is a Symposium that is not to be missed for anyone who has clients in the marijuana industry – DON’T MISS IT!
