Program Description

Whether you are a novice litigator or a seasoned professional in the litigation arena, you will greatly benefit from this unique, half-day program cosponsored by the Colorado Judicial Institute. This program has been designed specifically for trial lawyers with an allstar cast of Judges as your faculty. Our two excellent panels of Judges will teach you the intricacies of becoming the most effective advocate you can be, from the beginning of the Pre-trial stage through all aspects of Trial. The day will begin with a presentation of the most important issues of the Pre-Trial phase including
dispositive motions, motions in limine, discovery disputes and issues, scheduling disputes, and the effectiveness of
status conferences. After the break, the program will continue through the trial phase addressing critical issues
including evidentiary considerations, evidence preclusion, demonstrative/electronic exhibits, the importance of dress
and demeanor, competency of counsel, the assistance of counsel in facilitating a prompt ruling, and persuading the
judge to change or modify a decision. You will not only learn the most effective tactics to use, but also what pitfalls to avoid, and you will be learning these tools from the Judges that preside over your cases. Their years of observation, expertise and experience will be shared with you.
