Planning Ahead: Establishing a Transition Plan in the Event of Your Death or Disability

Program Highlights

Are you prepared? Faculty will guide you in the ethics and practicality of a transition plan, and how to prepare a plan for the unexpected events in your life that may disrupt your practice. Learn about:
- Protecting your client and your clients' interests
- Commencing a plan - where to start and what to include
- Procedures Manuals - ethics and practice
- Insurance issues and protection

Program Description

If you are a solo or small firm practitioner and you don't have a transition plan - an agreement with another lawyer, instructions to family, or any indication of how to take over your practice at a moment's notice - you could be working up to a messy situation for you, your family, employees, partners, and clients. Planning is required - whether for the planned or unplanned event that interrupts or ends your ability to practice. You need a plan at a minimum to protect your clients' interests, and in the best case scenario, to maximize the value of your practice for the benefit of your heirs and your successors.
