In the spring of 2024, protests surrounding the Israel/Gaza conflict took place on college and university campuses around the country. College and university administrators were faced with the task of managing students’ free speech rights against the need to keep campuses safe. This same balancing is required of city, county, and state governments. In this program two attorneys who have, respectively, represented both protesters and school districts will explore the tension that can sometimes exist between free speech rights and public safety concerns.
