Colorado lawmakers took a historic vote to approve civil unions for same sex couples, where voters banned same-sex marriage not long ago. The measure grants same-sex couples similar rights to married couples. The bill won final passage on a 39-26 House vote on March 12.
Governor Hickenlooper has signed the bill, making Colorado the eighth state that have civil unions or similar laws.
