Recognizing and Confronting Implicit Bias in the Courtroom
Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. Implicit bias is a particularly challenging threat to the legal system. While we ideally apply cold logic to facts and law to come to equitable results, we aren’t always aware of how our own biases can tip the scales of justice. Learn about the sources of implicit bias, how to be more aware of how it affects your decision making process, and how your awareness can help you make the legal system more equitable.

Flat Fee and Contingent Fee Agreements
Flat and contingent fee agreements may be consumer-friendly, but they don’t necessarily fit neatly into traditional notions of what makes for a “reasonable” fee. Learn about creating benchmarks, ensuring that the fee you charge for your services is reasonable for the work provided, and writing a fee agreement that will fully and clearly communicate the fee structure to your client.

Limited Licensed Paralegals
A recent rule change in Colorado allows licensed paralegals to take on certain tasks that would traditionally have to be performed by attorneys.
