In the legal profession, and the world at large, many structural barriers stand between people and their desire and ability to fully participate in the community. These include racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, heteronormativity, neuronormativity, and xenophobia, among others. Some cultural features of our profession also create barriers, like the focus on competition and high achievement, elevated rates of substance abuse, and an aversion to frank conversations about feelings and personal experiences. In this series, the CBA Council on Equity and Inclusive Excellence will roll out some tools to help overcome these barriers and create rewarding professional relationships in your peer-to-peer engagement within the legal community.
Topics Include:
- Building Relationships
- Inclusive Teamwork and Meetings
- Discussing Difficult Topics
- Restoring Damaged Relationships
