Meet Your Faculty
 
Todd M. Olinger, Esq., Todd M. Olinger, P.C., assists small and mid-sized companies, investors, and entrepreneurs in structuring their businesses and investments, including the purchase and sale of businesses, private equity offerings and investments, and commercial and real estate transactions.   Mr. Olinger first became interested in cybersecurity while serving as a space operations intelligence officer in the United States Air Force from 1991 until 2002. He attended law school while still in the active reserves, and then clerked for Colorado Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis before joining Davis, Graham & Stubbs, LLP in their corporate finance and IP groups. He subsequently joined Ducker, Montgomery, Aronstein & Bess, P.C. In 2011, he founded his current firm in Louisville, Colorado. Mr. Olinger has an M.B.A. in finance and an undergraduate degree in physics.  He is married with two children, Dani (23) and Thomas (8), and lives in Louisville, Colorado. He has been involved for several years in the CBA (currently serving as Chair of the Business Law Section) and participated closely with some of the other panelists in the Bar's lobbying efforts earlier this year on HB18-1128.
 
Jeremy Schupbach, Legislation Relations Director, Colorado Bar Association, has more than 12 years of lobbying experience, working directly with the Colorado Legislature. Mr. Schupbach's responsibilities include working with the sections and members of the bar to develop and promote the association's legislative strategy and to direct the lobbying efforts of the Colorado Bar Association. His experience at the Capitol has given him expertise in coordinating and fostering communications between an organization, legislators on both sides of the aisle, state departments, and stakeholders, resulting in successful legislation, excellent networks and opportunities for strategic partnerships. He has helped to pass several important pieces of legislation with topics as diverse as guardianship, judicial performance, real estate transactions, trust law and probate. He actively listens to stakeholders and constituents to find win-win solutions and create innovative strategies for solving problems. Mr. Schupbach earned his Master's Degree in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota, and his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University. Before coming to the Colorado Bar Association, he represented an association of Medicaid providers serving the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He is married with two children, Eddie (9) and Josie (4).  He enjoys bicycling and reading in his free time. David M. Stauss, Esq., Ballard Spahr LLP, focuses on complex business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts, involving product liability, data security and privacy, and business disputes. He leads his firm's privacy and cybersecurity practices in its Denver and Boulder offices, and leads the Consumer Products section of the firm's Manufacturing Group. In his privacy and data security practice, David regularly assists clients in preparing for data breaches by drafting incident response plans and conducting table top exercise. He has counseled numerous clients in responding to data breaches, including managing multi-state breach notifications, appearing before regulators, and providing employee training. He is accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and as a Certified Information Privacy Technologist  (CIPT). David is an avid author and presenter on privacy and cybersecurity and has been quoted in numerous publications. He is also a frequent contributor to CyberAdviser, a blog focused on the latest news and developments in privacy and cybersecurity law.
 
Alyssa R. Watzman, Esq., Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, is a partner in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois. Her practice focuses on data privacy and cybersecurity matters as well as on government investigations and civil litigation. Alyssa advises companies as they anticipate cybersecurity threats, assists them in complying with the requirements of state data breach notification statutes as well as various federal regulations, and represents them as they address data security incidents and related third party litigation. Alyssa also facilitates forensic investigations and the provision of credit monitoring and identity restoration services. She has experience representing private and public entities of all sizes in the health care and financial services sectors, among others. Her background in litigation and complex regulatory investigations provides her unique insights into liabilities that emanate from data security incidents.
