Jeffrey Johnson, Esq., with his more than three decades of legal experience, clients rely on Mr. Johnson to guide them through virtually any labor and employment issue or dispute. Mr. Johnson brings his experience to bear in counseling clients, helping them to comply with the myriad of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. When litigation arises, he is a battle-tested, effective advocate for his clients. He has tried and won (and settled) cases across the U.S., in federal and state courts and agencies, as well as in arbitration. He has served as lead counsel in a number of class and collective actions and multi-plaintiff cases. Mr. Johnson has represented management in virtually every area of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination litigation and counseling (including race, national origin, sex, sexual harassment, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and retaliation); wrongful discharge litigation; wage and hour (including employer counseling, Department of Labor audits, and defense of private and government wage suits); WARN Act advice and litigation; personnel counseling (including employee handbooks and personnel policies and procedures, and employee discipline and discharge); and individual employee rights (including social media and drug and alcohol matters). His experience also includes National Labor Relations Act matters (representation, unfair labor practice, collective bargaining, and strikes and picketing); whistleblower litigation (including under Sarbanes-Oxley); non-compete and non-disclosure agreements and other trade secret matters; and employee safety and health. Mr. Johnson also regularly assists the firm's corporate attorneys and clients on the labor and employment aspects of transactional matters. Mr. Johnson also serves (or has served) as legal counsel to non-profit organizations, ranging from the state chamber of commerce to a nationally-known local country club. He provided labor and employment advice enabling the state's three legal aid programs to successfully merge their operations in order to more efficiently provide services to their low-income clients. Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. He has appeared in federal and state courts in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, Kansas, and California, as well as before state labor and employment agencies in many of those states. He has represented employers in arbitrations across the country.
