James F. Carr, JD, is Co-Chair of the Colorado Bar ADR Section and Program Chair for the Denver Bar Association Court Mediation Service. He has been active in ADR for many years, including chairing the CBA ADR Section in 2004-2005 and serving on a mediator credentialing committee from 1996 to 2000. He is Vice-President of the Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership Board. Jim is a volunteer mediator in the Denver Bar Court Mediation Services program and Jefferson County Mediation Services. He is a volunteer facilitator and mediator with the Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership. Jim served in the Colorado Attorney General's office for 27 years and before that spent 5 years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Genesee County, Michigan. He retired from the Attorney General's office in 2009 and currently has a mediation practice and a legal practice with consultation and representation for regulatory matters. His work the AG's office involved representing professional licensing boards, the Division of Insurance, the Independent Ethics Commission, CERCLA litigation, and a variety of other litigation for the State of Colorado. Jim has been active in the American, Colorado and Denver Bar Associations for more than thirty years and served on the ABA Board of Governors, the CBA Board of Governors, and the DBA Board of Trustees. He also was a member of the ABA House of Delegates for fourteen years. Jim chaired the ABA Commission on Disability Rights, served on the Colorado Board of Law Examiners and held numerous other positions. Jim received his J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School and a B.S. degree from the United States Air Force Academy. He also referees high school lacrosse and does a lot of cycling.
