William King, Esq., is in the Denver Metro area and focuses his practice in divorce and family law related matters.   Bill is a graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, IA, receiving a BA in history and political science and obtained his JD degree from the University of Iowa in 1975.   He has been practicing law in the Colorado area since 1977 and is an expert on all family law issues.   Bill has lectured over many years on various family law matters including presentations at the annual Family Law Institute presented by the Family Law section of the Colorado Bar Association.  He has also co-chaired the Spring Family Law Institute in conjunction with Continuing Legal Education.  He has served on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association since 2004.  He is also an author and reviser of the Domestic Relations Bench Bar Book providing material on maintenance, property division, attorney's fees and costs, divorce tax-related matters since May of 2011.  Bill initiated the current Rule 53 Special Masters pilot project that allows District Courts throughout the state to find Special Masters to assist with their domestic relations cases. He also engaged in the mentoring project through the Family Law section and prior to that has also mentored younger lawyers in the area of family law.  Most recently Bill was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court to the Office of Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee dealing with potential major changes to domestic relations practice, specifically dealing with alternate  dispute resolution matters.  Mr. King primarily represents individual clients in dissolution of marriage cases but also provides mediation and settlement negotiations.  Should there be a need for hearings or a trial, he has 40 years of experience in the courtroom in all jurisdictions along the front range as well as occasionally on the western slope.   He also does a substantial amount of mediation in highly contested difficult cases again, with the vast majority finding a solution short of litigation.  He has also provided service as a Special Master pursuant to C.R.C.P. 53 and as a Decision-Maker in domestic relation cases pursuant to C.R.S. 14-10-128.3.  Since 2000, Bill has received the AV rating, which is the highest rating for Martindale-Hubbell.  Bill's focus is to assist clients in the dissolution of marriage process to reach expeditious, economical, fair and amicable resolution.
