Denise K. Mills concentrates her private law practice exclusively on complex family law matters. She is a founding partner of Mills & Weitzenkorn, P.C., of Denver, Colorado. The two-attorney firm limits its practice to family law and has been continually recognized as one of Best Lawyers’ Best Family Law Firms in Denver. Ms. Mills is a certified Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has served as President of the Colorado Chapter, and as the representative to the National Board of Governors of the organization. She is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association. Ms. Mills is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. She was named Best Lawyers’ 2012 Denver Family Law Lawyer of the year. She was also awarded the Colorado Bar Association Family Law Section 2016 ICON Award. She has been continually recognized by Super Lawyers as a top practitioner in her field, as well as being one of the top 50 female lawyers and one of the top 100 male and female lawyers in Colorado. She completed 10 years of service as editor of the Family Law Column in The Colorado Lawyer from 1982 through 1993, and served as a member of The Colorado Lawyer Board of Editors from 1983 through 1994. She has written and lectured extensively on numerous subjects in the family law area. Denise served on the Supreme Court Ad Hoc Committee on Rules Pertinent to Discovery and Motions Practice and Civil Litigation. Denise chaired the Supreme Court Subcommittee on Domestic Relations Case Management, Disclosure and Discovery Rules. She was a member of the Supreme Court Committee Concerning the Use of Magistrates in District, County, Juvenile, Probate, Small Claims, and Water Courts. She was also Chairperson of the Colorado Bar Association Task Force on Common Law Marriage.
