Nestor Legal LLCFaisal Salahuddin, Esq., is recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Rising Star in Criminal Defense two years running. Faisal's practice includes civil rights, employment discrimination, constitutional law, and criminal defense. Before forming Frank & Salahuddin LLC, Faisal was an associate with the law firm Killmer, Lane and Newman LLP. While at Killmer, Lane and Newman, Faisal worked under the guidance and tutelage of some of Denver's best-known and most accomplished attorneys, David Lane, Darold Killmer, and Mari Newman. Through this work, he was interviewed numerous times by various media outlets regarding the Occupy Denver protests and the First Amendment. Faisal began his legal career as a Deputy State Public Defender, where he worked first in El Paso County and then in Arapahoe County, handling both felony and misdemeanor cases. Since 2008, Faisal has trained attorneys and law students across Colorado on all aspects of trial work. While he was at the University of Colorado, Faisal worked as a law clerk for such firms as Patton Boggs LLP (now Squire Patton Boggs LLP) and Reilly Pozner LLP. In addition to making the 2014 and 2015 Rising Stars list, during his tenure a Deputy State Public Defender, Faisal received the 2010 Lowrey Kelley Memorial Boot Camp award for exceptional work as a public defender. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law and a 1998 graduate of High Point University. Together with Adam Frank, he graduated from the National College of Capital Voir Dire training seminar where he learned the art of jury selection in death penalty cases. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Plaintiff Employment Law Association, Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the South Asian Bar Association and he is currently the Vice-Chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Civil Rights Committee. Before attending law school, Faisal was an accomplished djembe player and won numerous grants and awards between 1999-2005 to study and perform percussion in Guinea in West Africa. During this time, Faisal worked as an apprentice to the National Percussion Ensemble of Guinea. A dedicated yogi, Faisal attended a 200 hour yoga teacher training program in 2013.
