Nil Buckley, MA, LAC, LPC, DVCS, NBCC, ACS, born Eronilde Lima Chaves Silva, grew up in a small village in northern Brazil. Driven by a deep commitment to education and service, she migrated to the United States in 2007 to pursue higher learning. Nil earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addiction from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, in 2016. She became a Licensed Addiction Counselor in 2017 and a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2018. In 2018, Nil was awarded Full Operating Level approval as a Male and Female Offender Evaluator and Treatment Provider by the Colorado Domestic Violence Offender Management Board (DVOMB). She further earned the designation of Domestic Violence Clinical Supervisor (DVCS) in 2022. With a forensic counseling career spanning since 2015, Nil founded Vivus Counseling in 2018 and C.A.R.E. Forensic Solutions in 2024. She currently serves as a Pre-Sentence Evaluator and Treatment Provider for Domestic Violence Courts in El Paso County and as a Post-Sentence Evaluator and Treatment Provider for the Veterans Trauma Court. Nil has conducted civil domestic violence evaluations in custody cases for over seven years and received formal training in Litigation and Evaluation Involving Allegations of Abuse in Family Court through the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT) in 2023. Nil represents mental health professionals on the DVOMB Board and is the Founder and Chair of the El Paso County Domestic Violence Task Force in Colorado Springs. She also serves as a domestic violence expert witness in both civil and criminal court matters involving allegations of abuse. She is the author of The CARE Method Series, a Risk-Need-Responsivity-based curriculum designed for domestic violence treatment and intervention. Since its initial publication in October 2024, The CARE Method has been adopted by multiple agencies across Colorado, implemented as the official DV curriculum in several counties in the state of New Jersey, and is receiving growing interest from agencies and professionals in other states nationwide.
