Matthew Skeen, Esq., received a B.S. degree in accounting from the School of Business at the University of Colorado in 1969.  Mr. Skeen joined the United States Army upon graduation from the University of Colorado. He successfully completed Officer Candidate School, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery, and served at Fort Carson, Colorado and in the Republic of Viet Nam. Mr. Skeen passed the CPA Examination in the spring of 1973, and received his certificate as a Certified Public Account in 1975. He received a J.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1975. Mr. Skeen served as Editor in Chief of the University of Colorado Law Review. He was admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado in 1975, and in 1980 was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Skeen served one year as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert H. McWilliams of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has been actively engaged in the private practice of law since 1976. Since 1980, Mr. Skeen has practiced primarily in the area of bankruptcy law, serving as a trustee, and representing debtors, creditors, and trustees in all areas of bankruptcy practice. Currently, Mr. Skeen practices with his wife, Cynthia R. Skeen, a trustee on the panel of chapter 7 trustees in Colorado, and with his sons, Benjamin R. Skeen and Matthew D. Skeen, Jr. Skeen & Skeen, P.C. has offices in Denver and Georgetown, Colorado.
