Michael Goodbee, Last month, he was appointed to serve as the Assistant District Attorney supporting the newly elected 17th Judicial District Attorney Don Quick.. Prior to that he served for several years as Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Justice for Attorney General Ken Salazar. His duties included supervising all of the criminal prosecutions within the Attorney General's Office: Capital Crimes, Gang Prosecutions, Foreign Prosecutions, Securities Fraud, Medicaid Fraud, Insurance Fraud, and Complex Crimes through the use of the statewide grand jury. His career in law enforcement began in 1991 as a traffic court Deputy DA for Eagle County Court in the Fifth Judicial District. In 1996, he was promoted to Chief Deputy shortly after his first jury trial guilty verdict in a murder trial. In 1997 Goodbee secured the Governor's appointment to serve as new DA upon the resignation of DA Pete Michaelson. He proudly served as Fifth Judicial District DA from 1997 through December 2002. He was twice elected, in 1998 and 2000. The Fifth Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission twice named Goodbee a finalist to serve on the bench in the Fifth Judicial District. He has won several first-degree murder verdicts at trial and earned the first reckless skier felony homicide conviction at jury trial. He is proud to serve as vice president for the Board of Directors for COVA, and former member of the Governing Board for the Colorado District Attorney's Council. Michael is married to Michelle Goodbee; they have a four-year-old son, Gabriel and a two-year-old daughter, Rachel.
