Miguel R. Martinez. a native Spanish speaker, is a bilingual contract professional mediator working with the Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) in Colorado. A former senior executive at a Fortune 500 company, he holds dual degrees in economics and business administration. In addition, he serves on the board of the Mediation Association of Colorado (MAC) He is an expert on intercultural and diversity issues, and as the principal of Fenix, Inc., he counts among his clients many public and private entities, including NGOs and refugee organizations. He has developed numerous programs of cultural integration, executive training on management of a diverse workforce, labor relations, and language development initiatives, among others, and brings ample knowledge and understanding of the cultural and linguistic differences that can hinder the communication and resolution of conflicts between different parties. Since 2011, he has served as a Certified State Interpreter within Colorado's judicial system. His role has involved working with the courts and numerous state and federal law enforcement agencies, providing him with a comprehensive understanding and significant experience in the field. Based on this experience, he has unique and distinctive approach to mediation enabling him to create an optimal environment for conflict resolution. He is a member of the State Advisory Committee of Language Access and the Court Interpreter Oversight Committee of the State of Colorado. And as a dedicated volunteer, he was recognized in 2005 with the Governor’s Volunteer of the Year award. He now volunteers with several nonprofit and community mediation organizations.
