J. Marc Painter, Esq., is the past chair of Holland & Hart LLP's real estate group. His practice focuses on real estate development, real estate finance, and associated corporate issues. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Mr. Painter recently served as chair of the Board of Colorado Bar Association CLE and is a past chair of the CBA Real Estate Section Council. His past bar activities include chairing the CBA Young Lawyers Division and serving on the CBA Executive Council, Board of Governors, Long-Range Planning Task Force, Budget Committee, and Professionalism Task Force. Mr. Painter also served time on the Colorado Real Estate Commission's Forms Committee. He has been an author on many real estate topics, including articles in the Colorado Real Estate Journal and The Colorado Lawyer, and he is a regular faculty speaker at the annual Colorado Real Estate Symposium and other continuing education and industry programs, where he has lectured on brokerage issues, real estate legislation, the Clean Air Act's impact on real estate development, sustainability issues in mixed use development, HUD financing and multifamily development, real estate issues for nonprofit entities, and liquor licensing issues in retail leasing. He has been published and has lectured nationally on the complications of legalized marijuana in commercial real estate ownership and financing.
