Chaffee County Attorney's OfficeCharles “Chip” Mortimer, Esq., received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in 1983, and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary in Virginia in 1986. He was licensed to practice law in Colorado in 1986, and spent 15 years thereafter in private practice, focusing on family, commercial, and real estate litigation, before joining the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel as Assistant Regulation Counsel in the Trial Division. Mr. Mortimer has served on the Thursday Night Bar Board of Directors, First Judicial District Board of Trustees, and Governor Owens's Commission on Civil Justice Reform. Prior to joining the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, Mr. Mortimer chaired the Colorado Lawyer's Fidelity Fund and served as a Trustee on the Colorado Lawyer's Fund for Client Protection. Chip has written and has presented to many state and national groups on various legal ethics issues, and particularly the intersection between legal ethics and access to justice. After fifteen years with the Office of Attorney Regulation, in June of 2016 Chip began as Assistant Chaffee County Attorney, where his clients include the County Department of Human Services.
