John C. (J) Smiley, Esq., is a partner in the Denver office of Lindquist & Vennum P.L.L.P. where he practices in the areas of bankruptcy law and commercial litigation. J. has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial bankruptcy cases, and has represented debtors, creditors, trustees, committees, and parties interested in acquiring assets from bankruptcy estates. J. has been a Chapter 11 Trustee, has represented receivers in state court proceedings, and has argued appeals before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, and the Federal District Court for the District of Colorado. J. has authored several published articles on numerous aspects of litigation and bankruptcy law, and also delivers speeches to groups on evolving aspects of commercial litigation, debtor-creditor relations, and bankruptcy law. J. is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, has been included as one of The Best Lawyers in America in 2012, and has been recognized as a Colorado Super Lawyer for several years. J. has worked on the Faculty of Federal Advocates as well as the Rules Committees for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado and the Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
