David D. Powell Jr

Deputy Attorney General
David D. Powell, Jr., Esq., currently serves as the Deputy Attorney General for the State Services section of the Colorado Attorney General's Office - comprised of eight separate legal units responsible for representing the state's key elected officials and providing legal services in the areas of health care, human services, K-12 and higher education, state contracts and procurement, labor, and public utilities. Before joining the Attorney General's Office, he primarily represented employers for over 25 years in employment related litigation matters filed in both state and federal courts. His practice also focused on internal investigations and advising employers on compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. Before entering private practice, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Denver District Attorney's Office. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable John L. Kane, Jr. in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado after graduating from the UCLA School of Law.
